Wednesday February 9, 2011Sharing within Your Community
This month, we are starting a new RM initiative: Sharing Ideas and Tips within our community. Social Media is about community and information sharing. This year, we want our eNews to be the place for that to happen.
To kick-off this new feature, we have guest columnist, Steve Cohen. Steve has been a student of marketing since our MBA days, always wanting to stay in the forefront of tech developments in marketing. He has some great ideas about embedded video.

Steve Cohen: Embedding Video
Most professional marketers consider it a given that video is the most effective communication method. But traditional methods of transmitting video lack three attributes: 1) the ability to transmit to micro audiences; 2) the ability to target consumers by name; and 3) speed. The cost and lead time of traditional media buys is prohibitive for many who want to exploit video assets.
The “Holy Grail” of 21st century marketing would be a low-cost method of transmitting video via HTML e-mail messages. Not a screen-grab-link to YouTube - a true video message. The recipient sees a moving image in the email preview pane, opens it and instantaneously sees a video message. Wouldn’t that be nice?
Such a technology does exist. A fast-growing company based in Montreal, Canada is now serving clients with great results – three times the typical open rate, a much higher CTR and F2F rate. The Holy Grail has been found!
For more information, contact me. I will send samples that demonstrate that the “Holy Grail” is within your grasp.
