Paradise Struck by Fires - GCR Spared in the Damage

As many of you know, last Tuesday was a sad day for Paradise.
Fires raged through our quiet town. Seven families lost their homes and an estimated 625 acres were burned. The local fire department determined a cigarette thrown out of a car window to be the cause. Dry foliage, prevalent throughout Wise County due to months of drought, and 50 mile winds fueled the flames. Neighbor fire houses were called in to assist and the fire was finally broken in the afternoon. However, fire fighters were called back into the area at least four or five times Tuesday night with reports of rekindled fires.

Garrett Creek Ranch was fortunate enough to be spared of any damage and our staff and their families are doing well. We want to thank all of you who called and expressed your concern. It is heartwarming to know that our clients are thinking of us from afar.

Garrett Creek Ranch has opened its gates to the Paradise community, offering meals, accommodation, and hospitality. We have benefited greatly from Paradise and it is always our honor to be able to give back to this wonderful town. We also join the community in praying for rain to restore the land damaged in the fire to its previous green glory.

Paradise is still smiling!
